API, your browser or a hand-off card: how applications get sent
Finding the right job is half the work. The other half is getting the application in front of a human — and every platform has its own door. Applybound uses three lanes, and you choose which one each platform may use.
Lane 1 — Official API
Some applicant-tracking systems and job platforms offer an official way to submit applications. Where one exists, this is the cleanest lane: the approved pack is submitted directly, and the confirmation comes back as a status you can see.
Best for: company career sites built on supported systems, platforms with public application APIs.
Lane 2 — Your own browser session
Large networks such as LinkedIn and Indeed do not offer an application API. Here the job account operator works inside your own browser session on the platform, filling forms and attaching your tailored pack.
This lane is powerful, and it comes with real risk: those platforms' terms restrict automated access, and accounts can be limited or restricted. That is why it is off until you consent per platform, and why you can switch back at any time. Read the automation & risk disclosure before turning it on.
When a site shows a check only you can pass, the operator pauses and hands you live control. One-time codes are never stored.
Best for: high-volume platforms where you accept the trade-off.
Lane 3 — Hand-off card
A hand-off card is the pack, fully prepared — CV variant, cover letter, answers to screening questions, the link to the form — waiting for you to press submit. No automation touches the platform at all.
Best for: dream companies, platforms you would rather not automate, anything you want to send personally.
Choosing per platform
Most people end up with a mix: API wherever available, hand-off cards for the handful of applications that matter most, and the browser lane only on platforms where they have read the risks and said yes. Whatever you pick, nothing is reported as sent until the platform confirms it.
